In simple terms this is a Plasma Exchange. Or “Blood Cleansing” Technique.
Blood is removed from the body via a IV in a vein, cycled through a machine, which separates the plasma (liquid portion of the blood), from the Red and White Blood cells, adds a replacement plasma fluid, then transfuses it back into the body.
It is used to remove circulating Antibodies in some Autoimmune diseases. While on other Autoimmune diseases, it can be ineffective.
Several CADs have indicated this procedure can be helpful. Though some indicate they have to have on-going biweekly sessions for it to be effective.
