Agglutination in the case of Cold Agglutinin Disease, is the “Clumping” or sticking together of Red Blood Cells.
In this abnormal reaction, triggered by a cooler or colder than normal blood temperature, it results in Red Cell destruction. Otherwise known as Hemolysis which can lead to Anemia.
This does not occur in a normal healthy individual.
